For all its heroic gestures to the ocean, GB House is a polite neighbour on a well-trod coastal cliff walk.
GB House, perched above Sydney’s coastline, responds to its stunning site with a discreet scale, layered materials, and a focus on privacy. The design uses a perforated brick façade to filter light and direct views, with strategic openings ensuring both seclusion and discovery. Inside, the layout unfolds through communal and private spaces, with concealed lookouts offering coastal vistas from the master bedroom and bathroom. Interior designer Belinda Brown crafted serene, contemporary interiors that blend seamlessly with the landscape, reflecting a relaxed seaside lifestyle. GB House won the prestigious Wilkinson Award in 2019.
